As mentioned in this entry, I'm posting here a small archive of old and cringey layouts I still have the previews of! Most of them were Livejournal S1, with some of my first S2 incursions.
The dates in the screencaps are of the time when I created the test entries so they don't reflect when they were made!!

Anyway, my goal with this is to show my improvement if we compare THIS to my current work over at inconformista. Mind you: these were obscure and cringey as hell times. You are warned!!


Layouts aren't ordered properly because I can't remember which were first or last lol


This was one of my very first S1 layouts for livejournal. Not the first, because the first ones were so shitty and obscure that I never even saved the screenshots for future reference lol. My first layouts were posted at a LJ community called something like x_nya_nya_x. LOL. I just checked, thanks to Batman, it's been purged. Bless Satan. ANYWAY.

What I DO remember is that this one was the very very first to work with ads! Remember when ads would break your layout in LJ? I do. And I got a way around this. Sometimes my friends call me the hacker, that title isn't there just because HAHAHA. Somehow I found a way of coding S1 that wouldn't break with ads. Many people used my layouts (I'm not shitting you, MANY people used them and now that I think of it... wow).

So yeah, a crappy and cringey layout of an Aile band member whose name I promptly forgot. As you can see, checkered stuff was all the rage. And these brushes. Omfg. I love it for how bad it is.


Everyone and their mum was in love with Tara of Panic Channel for some odd reason. I remember liking Miku (the vocalist) more HAHA! But hey, people wanted a Tara layout, so I gave them... this. Somehow my skills were up to par with people's expectations, and this was well received.

Swirls, dashes, asterisks and other shit. What can I say? Those were the times. Also if you aren't into Jrock I must tell you this: all of my graphics were Jrock related until... who knows when. Panic Channel was an indie band with some great hits, my favourite was Clear and I still have it on my phone to listen now and then. I know the words by heart!




Kana! This woman... I don't know if she still sings, but she's something to check out, definitely. Do it. I mean... you won't go indifferent. I liked her modelling a lot and also her music. And I had to make a layout of her somehow! I loved her green hair (or wig?) and so this was born.

I loved using imagemaps as navigation for my layouts! Somehow it became one of my trademarks lol. I used this layout for a loooong time and then decided to post it up for grabs, which people were really happy about somehow.


My love for Kagrra, brought many layouts and graphics to this world hahaha. This one of Isshi was... experimental. I remember being inspired by someone else's layout and creating this one!

As you can see, brightness and contrast were different back then, at least in the screen where all of this was made hahaha... Also it was trendy to make things as unreadable as possible. I'm not kidding.


These were a set of layouts I made of all the members of Ayabie. I had so much free time on my hands, as I was like 16 years old back then lol. Very simple but cute, I think.


This was a request! A girl who often commented on all my entries requested this layout of the singer of MUCC. Obviously, being him, it had to be grungey and eroguro hahaha. Plus she loved moths, so I slapped one for her there. All my layouts followed the same structure more or less. Sidebars were a must back then because, where else could you talk about your likes and dislikes, put up an emo picture of yourself and say "FURIENDS ONLY MADAFAKAS"? Exactly.


Cryptic navigations like the XXXX for which each X was an url were all the rage. I loved Nao of Kagrra,. He was my absolute bias and inspiration! I remember looking at this and saying... "This is my best layout so far".


I didn't even like this band, but someone requested this and there I went and made it. Looks hideous to me right now lol. But people loved it!


This was one of the last S1 layouts I made. S1 was deprecated and S2 was the way to go. I think this is very simple yet very pretty! Even for today's standards lol.

Also, RED SPLOTCH.


Sakito of Nightmare was one of my other inspirations. I loved loved loved this layout! I inspired myself with another layout from a girl who had a domain with jrock related websites. She used to make small designs because 800x600 screens. And because back then everything was small. Everything.

I used this layout for a very long time and love it even nowadays.


This horrendous creation was made to please the mods of a jrock graphics community who were looking for a new co-mod to post there. They were all the rage and I wanted to meassure my skills. Sadly, I didn't get through. Someone else who copied exactly their style did. Oh well! Good riddance. I'm still making layouts today and they aren't HAHAHAHA.

I never was an An Cafe fan... but the other day I listened to their first album and actually liked them. I guess it's time to revisit some bands from the past! They are not as stupid as I thought by their looks lol.


This was actually a layout I made for my own graphics journal! I really liked it and it featured Akiya of Kagrra,. Super simple and I don't have a screenshot of it working. But I do have the header lol.


This Nao and Izumi layout was one of my favourites! I had a lot of favourites lol. So colourful and calm. Also with imagemap as navigation because that's how I was! Hahaha. Annnnd yeah not much to say I'll shut up now.


Sakito again! These pictures were amazing and I made a layout on the spot. I really liked the wide sidebar and the colours! I tried to emulate someone else's work here and it looked great. Kind of elegant.


This was a S2 layout I made to celebrate a new release by Kagrra,. I tried to make it look similar to the OHP at that time. AAH THE NOSTALGIA!!!


I was totally obsessed with Izabel Varosa. They had a short but cool career, I loved all their songs! This was the singer and the picture inspired me a lot. I used this for a long time and still like it! And yes, IMAGEMAPS.


Yet another request by a friend. Daisuke of Kagerou was amazing! His vocals were so aggressive, even in balads, he totally expressed feelings like no one before. And... he died in 2010, which sucks. You should listen to Kagerou if you still haven't. And this layout was very pleasing and cool at the time!


I can't remember which band this was, but this was another request (omg I was so kind HAHAHA). I love purple, apparently. And yeah, small layouts were still the way to go! I love those micro sidebars hahaha.


Low contrast, blur effects and the use of textures! Peachy layouts, oh my. Ryouhei of Ayabie because I liked him a lot. He's probably a shit of a person but looks were what we decided upon for loving or ignoring back then. Well maybe he was an alright person lol. I REALLY DON'T KNOW. But his pictures were really nice.


See? XXXX as navigation hahahaha. Nao of Alice 9 and a green layout? Yes! I really liked this, I would stare at it for minutes and minutes.


My first S2 layouts were very horrid, to say the truth. I made one header version for each Kagrra, member because they were my life. Low contrast as shit and base codes I found somewhere. I still didn't know how to get the base stylesheets so yeah. I worked with what I had! Isshi ♥


WELL. A Klaha layout (I only have the header lol). I used this shit for some time, I really like how I blended this! And yeah, peachy low contrast stuff. Hard to read as hell! The good times!


What is this I don't even. I think this was my first attempt at a S2 layout ever. As you can read in the test entry, the links hover weren't working. HAHAHAHA SATAN KNOW'S WHY?!
I love that song by L'arc~en~ciel, so I splattered it all over the design. Also red splotches.


Following my shitty S2 layout trend... A Sceana desing. How do you pronounce Sceana is a mystery. He is/was the singer of a band called Kamaitachi and they had a song called Masturbation. Wild. I loved his face and long hair!

Not much to say about this layout though HAHAHA.


A crazy swirlage if you will. The title was a follow up to a fic by someone I knew or some shit. I made this for myself only, which you can see on the Hnm.net link there. Hnm.net was my first and only domain! (Hana-no-miyako.net).
Ni~ya and Sakito of Nightmare were my all time OTP.


Ok I still love this design. NAO. This was an exclusive too. Sometimes I needed to have a layout for me only! HA! I can't remember if I edited this later to share with everyone else though lol.

Wow. This design was SO BAROQUE. I can't. So many swirls! Still, I like it. Hey, I wasn't so bad at this after all! Ryouhei because obsessions.


Believe it or not, this was one of my most acclaimed layouts at the time. Don't ask me why! Ryuutarou of Plastic Tree! And splatters and blurry stuff. And imagemaps. Otherwise it wouldn't be mine!

Also I used to make friends only banners for each layout and a matching icon too.


Oh girl what the hell. I remember the day these Nao scans came out! I was all I NEED A LAYOUT WITH THIS. And there we have it. Of course I still didn't know how to work with images properly (brightness, curves, contrast...). But I used this for a very long time.

I don't get how we didn't become blind by using such small fonts!!


Here started my obsession with S2 Smooth Sailing layouts. I made... countless of them. Many were Gackt layouts! But this one was Akiya of Kagrra,. In all honesty, this is weird but cool at the same time.


One of my last S1 layouts ever. I used to love this, now I find it hideous. Not much to say, OTP and darkness. lol.


I loved this tiny layout so much. Nao, again. Obsessions? Me? HAH! Tougenkyo lyrics and a picture from Nao's photobook. I think I used this for an mp3 rotation?


I would like to finish this post with my most hideous piece of crap! HAHAHA. Hiroto of Alice 9, I really liked that guy. Who knows why. Also... well, flowers and peachy colours.

Seriously, I made a shit ton more of these THINGS. And then at my next community at livejournal I made many more which I'll try to show you someday in another entry if I can retrieve the previews!

Anyway, I hope this speaks for how much I've improved! You don't want to know how my website designs were... oh boy.
